Erden holds 18 Guinness World Records including the first person to row the three major oceans, the first to row across the Pacific Ocean from North America to Asia, the first rower to cross the Indian Ocean from Australia to mainland Africa (with a stop on Madagascar), the first rower to cross any ocean from the southern to the northern hemisphere and the longest distance rowed across the Atlantic Ocean at 9,817 km (6,100 mi). His personal record for the continuous (non-stop) days at sea was 312 days on the Pacific Ocean during his 2007-2008 crossing.

In his recent attempt to row across the Pacific Ocean from Crescent City to mainland Asia, Erden reached Legazpi in the Philippines on 24 March 2022 after stopovers at Waikiki in September 2021 and at Guam in February 2022. Erden is the leading ocean rower in the world in career total days at sea by 1,084 solo and in solo total nautical miles by 26,705. Including rows on two person vessels, he has dedicated 1,167 days of his life to this sport.

During this last row he advanced his career totals in days and miles setting these three Guinness World Records every day along the way. Philippines being an Asian country, Erden was recognized as “the first person to row across the Pacific Ocean from North America to Asia” — his 18th Guinness World Record.
