Manuscript accepted for publication

NOTE: You know about the Feb 6 earthquake in southeastern Turkey by now. On my homepage, I shared the link to the reliable US-based nonprofit Turkish Philanthropic Funds. I am linking their dedicated earthquake relief fund again in case you are looking for ways to help.

The manuscript by Dr Jay Barlow was accepted for a scientific journal publication. As you may remember, I gathered ambient sound data using a HF hydrophone as conditions allowed during my row from California until Guam between June 2021 and February 2022. The goal was to provide data toward a survey primarily of Beaked Whales.

I unfortunately had to return the hydrophone from Guam with the last bit of data that I had collected still on it, after my laptop succumbed to the elements at sea; I no longer could extract sound data from the hydrophone. I do not have such equipment onboard anymore.

Here is the excerpt from the email from the Journal of Aquatic Mammals with the good news:

<<Based on the comments by reviewers and our reading of the manuscript, the editors of Aquatic Mammals are pleased to accept your manuscript "Acoustic Detections of Cetaceans from a Towed Recording System on a Trans-Pacific Rowing Expedition" (2022-1502) for publication in the next available issue of the journal, pending appropriate revisions.>>
